چکیده

Abstract Background High level of perceived stress may result in negative effects both psychologically and physically on individuals predispose onset mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, posttraumatic disorder. However, there is no suitable intervention for it. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) studies have shown its therapeutic efficacy treatment resistant patients with stress-related disorders. Here we describe an exploratory study protocol to investigate the effect high stress. Method This a single blinded, randomized sham-controlled trial, targeting at young healthy adults aging from 18 24 years old. Forty eligible volunteers will be recruited randomly divided into active sham rTMS group. All subjects take set neuropsychological biological assessments MRI scanning before right after intervention. During interventional period, 12-session stimulations performed 4 weeks three sessions per week. The primary outcome detect difference Chinese 14-item scales between groups Secondary outcomes examine differences other affective measurements, cortisol, MRI-derived neural functional measures two Discussion trial aims Positive or findings any would further our understanding impact. If effective, it provide evidence new Trial registration Clinical Registry ( ChiCTR1900027662 ). Registered 23 November 2019. And all items WHO Data can found within protocol.

Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in delirium: A double-blind, randomized, sham-controlled, pilot study

Purpose: Delirium is a fatal but potentially reversible disorder of Central Nervous System that adds a lot of costs on health systems. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of intermittent theta burst stimulation on severity and course of delirium. Methods: This was a double-blind, randomized, sham-controlled, pilot study. The participants were randomly allocated into two groups of ...

Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for treatment-resistant major depression (TRMD) Veteran patients: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

BACKGROUND Evaluation of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for treatment-resistant major depression (TRMD) in Veterans offers unique clinical trial challenges. Here we describe a randomized, double-blinded, intent-to-treat, two-arm, superiority parallel design, a multicenter study funded by the Cooperative Studies Program (CSP No. 556) of the US Department of Veterans Affairs....

Efficacy of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in alcohol dependence: a sham-controlled study.

OBJECTIVE To study the anticraving efficacy of high-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) of the right dorsolateral pre-frontal cortex (DLPFC) in patients with alcohol dependence. METHODS We performed a prospective, single-blind, sham-controlled study involving 45 patients with alcohol dependence syndrome (according to ICD-10 DCR), with Clinical Institute of Withdrawal...

Randomized sham-controlled trial of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in treatment-resistant obsessive-compulsive disorder.

In open trials, 1-Hz repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) to the supplementary motor area (SMA) improved symptoms and normalized cortical hyper-excitability of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Here we present the results of a randomized sham-controlled double-blind study. Medication-resistant OCD patients (n=21) were assigned 4 wk either active or sham rTMS to t...

Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for generalised anxiety disorder: a pilot randomised, double-blind, sham-controlled trial.

BACKGROUND Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) holds promise for treating generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) but has only been studied in uncontrolled research. AIMS This is the first randomised controlled trial (clinicaltrials.gov: NCT01659736) to investigate the efficacy and neural correlates of rTMS in GAD. METHOD Twenty five participants (active n = 13; sham, n = 12) enr...
